In my time at The San Francisco Standard, I experimented extensively with Twitter/X as a tool for audience engagement. My work on this platform included live Twitter Spaces with elected officials, curated Twitter Moments, audience polls, and dozens of video-heavy threads breaking down complex stories and providing timely updates on breaking news events.
Below is a selection of some of my most successful Twitter threads, including the California News Publishers Association award-winning social rollout of The Standard’s coverage of former SF fire commissioner Don Carmignani’s alleged bear spray attacks on homeless people (below left).
